![]() ![]() Seniors Miles Battle and Deantre Prince are long and experienced leaders in the bunch, but youngsters like freshman Davison Igbinosun and sophomore Markevious Brown should challenge for playing time on the perimeter. Edge defenders Brandon Mack and Demon Clowney can also rep at this position. Jaron Willis, fr.Ĭentral Michigan transfer Troy Brown should take one of the starting spots at linebacker, but don't be surprised if Brown rotates plenty with returning contributors Austin Keys and Ashanti Cistrunk as well as TCU transfer Khari Coleman. The starters: Troy Brown, r-sr OR Austin Keys, r-so. Returning players Demon Clowney, Brandon Mack and Tywone Malone will have the chance to emerge as contributors after waiting years on the sidelines. Brandon Mack, r-so Tywone Malone, r-fr.Ĭedric Johnson and Tavius Robinson will lead the Rebels as veterans on the outside, but Georgia Tech transfer Jared Ivey should rotate in plenty. Hill should retain his starting spot from last year, but Jamond Gordon and Isaiah Iton will rotate in as they did in 2021, and Auburn transfer JJ Pegues should provide an athletic change-of-pass on the interior. Isaiah Iton, jr.ĭefensive tackle isn't necessarily one position in the Rebels' defense, nor is it a spot where one player will get the majority of the reps. Don't be surprised if Brooks or Williams get some reps inside too if one misses out on a starting job. ![]() Nick Broeker bumps inside from tackle to guard, Caleb Warren bumps inside from guard to center and Eli Acker gets a full year as a starter after finishing the season there last year. One of the two will start opposite two-year starter Jeremy James on the outside. Western Kentucky transfer Mason Brooks has battled through injuries this preseason, opening the door for redshirt freshman Jayden Williams to take starting reps. USC transfer Michael Trigg might be the Rebels' best-looking athlete and is primed for a breakout season, but don't count out returning starter Casey Kelly as a solid option to run sets with two tight ends. Transfers Malik Heath, Jordan Watkins and Jaylon Robinson should all be expected to contribute, and redshirt freshman JJ Henry has earned more acclaim than any other offensive player from Kiffin during preseason practices. Other than senior Jonathan Mingo, the Rebels don't return much production at receiver. JJ Henry, r-fr., Bralon Brown, r-fr., Jalen Knox, sr. Both have plenty of experience and the raw talent to start anywhere and should thrive in Kiffin's run-heavy, up-tempo scheme. TCU transfer Zach Evans and SMU transfer Ulysses Bentley IV make up the Rebels' new star-studded running back duo. Don't expect there to be a rotation in the season, though Kiffin tends to be a coach who picks a quarterback and sticks with him throughout the year. ![]() Jaxson Dart, the USC transfer, and Luke Altmyer have rotated first- and second-team reps this spring and preseason. Kiffin won't pick a quarterback so neither will we. View Gallery: Ole Miss football at SEC Media Days 2022: Lane Kiffin, Jonathan Mingo Quarterback ![]()
